Our story.

The story of Maison Rêve started with a simple idea I had one autumn day in October 2002. I was living a fast paced, high-tech life and wanted more of the simple French lifestyle that I learned from my Suisse-French mother growing up in Montréal. And I wanted to share that lifestyle along with my passion for vintage flea market finds with more people.

But as I sat in Mill Valley, California, where I was living, under a beautiful tree that had changed it leaves to vibrant fall colors…red, orange and yellow…I was struggling to change my own life. It was hard to leave a successful career behind. Would I regret it? Should I follow my heart and jump in?

I decided to put on my wellie boots (figuratively) and jumped in! A month later I was at flea markets rummaging through items to fill my new home and garden shop, Maison Rêve, located just a block away from that tree, with items to be ready for the holidays. I was happier than I had ever been.

Filled with orchard ladders and French canning jars, Maison Rêve which means Dream Home in French, soon became a beloved brand and vibrant space for the community to meet and get inspired.

Moms would drop their kiddos off at school and stop by for an inspiring pop of joy. For 10 years, it was that place to go for curated vintage finds, creative workshops, design services, and lots of great conversations.

Over time, we expanded to a larger space on the downtown Mill Valley square and added artisan, sustainable home products to go with our vintage flea market finds.

We also did cooking and antiquing trips to France, created two Maison Rêve designed vacation rental cottages which we still rent today, hosted seasonal flea markets in our shop’s back garden, and created lots of fun stories for national magazines photographed at our shop or my 1893 Victorian home in Sausalito.

In 2012, after a decade of enjoying our amazing customers and working with my rockstar team of creative women, I listened to my heart again and decided…
